    Been That Way Since I Was a Kid!

    And Now Since the Scourge of Covid,

    He’s Shown Courage We Suspected

    Laid Dormant, But Now’s Perfected!

   With Some Basics Still Out of Reach,

   Water, Paper Goods, Even Bleach,

   At Least Once Weekly Big Zak Knocks

   On Grampa’s Door and Hands a Box

 Of Whatever’s In Short Supply!

 No Need to Ask the Reason Why!

 All His Life Zak’s Helped Those In                    Need!

 Not Shocked By Zak’s Latest Good                      Deed!

   So Come, Celebrate This Grand Man

   Who’s Doing All the Good He Can

   To Bring Calm To This Pandemic!

   Zak’s Kind!  Zak’s Brave!  Zak’s                   Authentic!

  This Easter Sunday was Surreal!

  Not At Church, It Hardly Seemed Real!

  All Day I Felt This Nagging Guilt!

  But We Still Heard the Choir’s Lilt!

  We Saw the Rev’rend on TV

  Deliver His Sermon to Me!

  Prob’ly His Whole Congregation!

  Who Knows, Maybe Our Whole Nation!

  After TV Church, Mom Had Us

  Recall the Key Points and Discuss

  The Meaning of True Faith and Hope

  And Why Easter Can Help Us Cope!

  Then Bingo, Presto, In a Flash,

  We Ventured Forth to Find the Stash

  Of Goodies That the Bunny Hid!

  He Got Tricky, That Bunny Did!

  But My Sister’s Fifteen Years Young!

  Twenty~Six Years We've Combined Fun;

  Won’t Stay Fooled By No Floppy Tail!

  We Searched Smart!  And We Did 
              Prevail!

    She’d Run Til There was No More Path,

    Then Contemplate the Aftermath

    Of Tarzan Leaping from This Shelf!

    I Run to Save Her from Herself!

    But All That Changed!   My Girls are Home!

    Strictly Home ... Hardly Evah Roam!

    That Means I’m What a Dog Should Be …

    All Day They Hug and Love on Me!

    Yes, Even When the Sun’s Just Up

    I’m Getting Backrubs from the Pup!

    While They School, That’s When I Catch Zzzzs!

    Then I Let Them Do What They Please!

    They Groom Me!  Hug Me!  Fix My Face!

    Which Improves My Fur’s Aesthetics!

    How Do I Feel, Cooped Up in Here?

    Child, This Dog’s Grinning Ear to Ear!

Yet Kind’a Cool!   What Say We Try

To Distance, Same Time Have Some Fun?

Face It, We All Could Use a Run!”

When We Got There, I Scanned the Place

I Couldn’t Find Another Face

That Wasn’t Topped with Scarlet Curls!

On Private Land, Mom and Her Girls

Discovered There’s Nothing Scary

‘Bout a Sculpted Dromedary!

It’s True, We Did Eschew Sculptures

That Served as Roosts for Live Vultures!

Daphne Found Elephants and Bugs,

Avoided Cacti, Gave Some Tugs

On Her Leash!  Caught Up in the Fun!

All Afternoon Safe On the Run!

(True, California State Parks are Closed.  But All 130 of Galleta’s Metal Sculptures are on Private Land in Borrego Springs.)
