         From What I’ve Heard Mom’s Task Hurt Worse!

         All That Year, While I Lay Cooing,

         Guess What My Audrey Was Doing?

         Each Night She’d Read Me My Poem!

         Her Voice a Soothing, Kind, Low Hum!

         The Last Sound I Heard ‘fore Dream Land!

         So Once My First Birthday’s at Hand

         She Called Grampa and Filled Him In!

         Asked Him to Write Poems Again!

         Like Ev’ry Saturday’d be Nice!

         She Says Grampa Never Thought Twice!

         I Can Report Since Birthday One

         Grampa’s Rhymed About So Much Fun!

         A Few Poems Drew Forth a Tear!

         Is There Some Secret Message Here?

         Look No Further My Reader~Friend

         Than Those Two Lines Down at the End!

         One Thousand Expressions of Love!

         That’s What These Poems are Made Of!

             Like Mom, I’m Built Close to the Ground!

            From Here Most Everything is Found!

            Drop a Quarter or a Dollar …
            I’m On It ‘Fore You Can Holler,

            “My Money!    Oh, Where Did It Go!”

            Fear Not!   Bella's Crew's Honest, Bro!

            More Than One Tall Person Did Find,

            We’ll Return What They’ve Left Behind!

            Like Honest Abe is My Sister!

            All Shortness Traits Sure Have Missed Her!

            To Say She’s Tall Only Comes Near
            My Sister In the Stratosphere!

            Note She’s Grown Altudinous!

            Living Among the Cumulus

            Clouds In That Rarefied, Thin Air,

            Both Statuesque and Debonair!

            Mom’s Got One Short and One Tall
            Daughter, Which is the Best of All

            Worlds!   One Finds Things Near to the Ground!

            The Other Helps Her Take Things Down!

       I Have Some Nits to Pick!

           Not Once Have I Sprung Out of Bed!

           Though Springing’s How I’ve Heard It Said!

           And Jump Into the Shower … Please!

           I Toe Temp Test With My Piggies!

           In School, While I May Raise My Hand,

           I Never Raise a Ruckus!   And

           I’m Not Even Sure That I Should!

           Is Ruckus Raising All That Good?

           Nothing Sadder Than a Sick Pup!

           But Why Do We Say They Threw Up?

           If Pups Ever Really Did That,

           My Ceiling Fan Would Spread That Splat!

           If Our Language is So Exact

           Why’s Imperfection Such a Fact?

           Does My Nit~Picking Drive You Nuts?

           No Drive Golfers, Just Real Short Putts!

           We Can Land a Man on the Moon!

           You Think We’ll Learn Our Language Soon?

           Instead We Drive on a Parkway,

           Reach Home, Then Park in Our Drive Way!

          'Twas On Our First Day Back to School,

          Our Mom Did Something Really Cool!

          Us Focused, Never Knew What’s Up!

          Mom Rescued This Sweet Pound~Hound Pup!

          Meet Daphne, Like on Scooby~Doo!

          For This Gal Our Mom Sure Came Through!

          Mom Wondered, At What Comfort Rate

          Would This New Pound~Hound Acclimate?

          We’ve Known Dogs Who’s Disposition

          Spoke of a Certain Conviction

          To Keep the Household Calm, Serene!

          Note to Calm Dogs … Daphne’s Your Queen!

          She’s Slept in Her Bed!   Slept in Ours!

          Mom Says She’s Great Sleeping in Cars!

          She’s Slept Half~On, Half~Off the Couch

          Ran In Her Sleep and Fell Off!   Ouch!

          So Yah, She’s Sure Acclimated!

          Glad Mom Never Hesitated!

          Adding Sweet Daphne to Our Home!

          She Belongs Here!   No More to Roam!
